Swanton boys, Viking girls each fourth at district cross country

FINDLAY – Swanton boys cross country took fourth at a Division II district meet Saturday at the Findlay Owens Campus.

Eastwood won with 30 points, Genoa was second with 37 points, Archbold third with 87, Swanton fourth with 100 and Rossford fifth at 131.

The Bulldogs had a trio of runners place in the top 25, led by Brett Bettinger who was runner-up and qualified for the regional meet at Tiffin. He finished with a time of 17:24.16.

Garrett Bradish finished 23rd (19:27.92) and Tyler Boyd 24th (19:58.76) for the Bulldogs. Tommy Chonko took 31st (21:24.22), Blake Szalapski 32nd (21:34.15), and Trace Benson 35th (22:03.44).

In a Division III girls meet, Swanton’s Briona Davis placed 30th with a time of 22:51.81. Ashley Keaton was 64th (26:52.04) and Alexandria Lamb 75th (29:13.99) for the Dogs.

The Evergreen girls placed fourth as a team to advance to the Tiffin Regional. The Vikings were led by Sarah Schwan who took second (19:31.27) and Kayla Gleckler who came in at fifth (20:42.32). Kennedy Keller finished 21st (22:13.98), Emma Majewski 51st (24:40.18), and Jolie Huffman 62nd (26:26.93).

On the boys side in Division III, Augie Tipping of Evergreen advanced individually. He took seventh with a time of 17:46.81.
