Bulldog boys cross country fourth at Archbold Invitational

Behind Brett Bettinger’s championship performance, the Swanton cross country team placed fourth in the boys meet at the Archbold Invitational Saturday.

Ida won with 48 points, Archbold was second with 61 points, Blissfield third at 93 points, and Swanton fourth with 129.

Bettinger won the boys race as he finished with a time 17:31.24. Garrett Bradish was the next best finisher for the Bulldogs, placing 21st (20:14.79). Tyler Boyd was 27th (20:24.06), Blake Szalapski 42nd (21:48.22), and Trace Benson 48th (22:05.97).

Leading the Swanton girls was Briona Davis who took 14th. She finished the race in 23:52.26.

Everyone was chasing the Archbold girls as they won with a score of 33. Ida was next at 72, Hicksville 85, and Blissfield 86. Swanton did not have enough runners for a full team.

The Bluestreaks had six runners in the top 10. Kylie Sauder took fourth (20:16.65), Dakota Stamm fifth (21:23.98), Karley Ramirez seventh (21:48.63), Brittney Ramirez eighth (21:49.63), Regan Ramirez ninth (22:21.62) and Gwynne Riley 10th (22:59.02).
