After going hitless for 3 2/3 innings Wednesday, Swanton put together five straight two-out hits in the sixth inning to push across four runs and go on to beat Otsego 7-5 in an ACME game at Otsego.

The Bulldogs’ Austin Luce and the Knights’ Joe Brown were locked in a duel from the mound for the first four innings without much in the way of offense.

Swanton threatened in the first when Carter Swank reached on an error and Derek Floyd singled to put Bulldogs at first and second with one out.

Hunter Mix followed with a base hit but an out at the plate to put an end to the Swanton scoring threat.

For the next three plus innings only three hitters combined reached base as both Luce and Brown forced easy bounce outs over and over.

Otsego finally broke through in the fourth against Luce to take the lead.

Brown reached on an error, went to third on Cory Holler’s single, and scored the first run of the game on another Bulldog throwing error.

Otsego doubled that lead in the fifth when after a walk and hit batter, Noah Dzierwa’s base hit to right made it 2-0.

Brown left the mound after four innings of two-hit ball and the Bulldogs finally broke through against reliever Connor Smith with two down in the sixth.

Swank walked, and Floyd drilled a double to left to put runners on second and third.

The Bulldogs got a break when Mix’s fly ball to right fell for what turned out to be a two-run triple that tied the game.

Billy Nowakowski followed with a single to right to put the Bulldogs ahead before Raymond Schad added an insurance run with a single to left.

The insurance run proved big when Mix, working in relief, walked the bases loaded with no outs in the sixth before gaining control on the mound.

The Bulldog right hander got out of trouble with a strikeout, a ground out that scored a run and another strike out to shut down the Knights rally.

Swanton then outscored the Knights 3-2 in a couple of extra innings played on the decision of both coaches to expand the lead by a run.

Luce picked up the victory allowing just one earned run on two hits.

The Bulldogs are at Central Catholic on Wednesday for a Jr. ACME game at 4:30 p.m. and Sr. ACME game at 6:30 p.m.
