Brett Bettinger of Swanton was runner-up in the 1600m last Tuesday, posting a time of 5:04.2. He won the 3200 at the Cooper Tire Invite.

Swanton’s Ally Hendricks tied for third in the long jump on Tuesday after leaping 14 feet, 3 and 3/4 inches.

Swanton placed second in both the boys and girls meets at a Northwest Ohio Athletic League track and field tri-meet last Tuesday at Wauseon.

In the boys meet, Wauseon was first with 116.5 points, Swanton finished second at 32 points, and Delta third with 23.5. Wauseon won the girls meet with 99.5 points, the Bulldogs were second with 55, and Delta third with 16.5.

Pacing the Swanton boys was Anthony Howard who took home titles in the 200m and 400m. Also winning for the Dogs was Dylan Gilsdorf who tied for first with Xavier Torres of Wauseon in the high jump. They both cleared 5 feet, 10 inches.

In the girls meet, Sidney Taylor won both the shot put and discus for Swanton. Other first place finishers were Bridget Harlett (100m), Briona Davis (3200m), and Julia Smith (high jump).

At the Cooper Tire Invitational on Friday at Findlay, the Swanton girls placed fifth and the Swanton boys sixth. Lima Senior won the girls title with 137 points, beating out second place Anthony Wayne, who had 128.

Julia Smith led Swanton with a first place finish in the high jump. Sidney Taylor was second in the discus.

Elida won the boys title with 151.33 points, beating out Sylvania Northview, who had 122.

Anthony Howard won the 800m and Brett Bettinger the 3200m to pace Swanton. The Bulldogs’ 4 x 800 meter relay team of Bettinger, Dylan Gilsdorf, Donovan Avalos and Howard was second.

The Northwest Ohio Athletic League Championships begin Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Archbold and conclude Friday at 7 p.m.
