MONTPELIER – Swanton Middle School had another good showing this past weekend at the Montpelier Track Invitational.
The Bulldog girls won the invitational with 98 points, while Archbold finished second with 78 points. The Swanton boys took second with 75 points, behind the Bluestreaks who won with 92.5 points.
Taking first for the girls was Trista Eitniear in the discus, setting a new invitational and middle school record with a throw of 101 feet. Audrey Szalapski added a win in the long jump; Brooke Dockery took first in the 800m; and the 4×400 relay team of Jayden Hendricks, Macy Pawlowicz, Alaina Pelland and Dockery was also victorious.
Finishing runner-up was Eitniear in the shot put. The Bulldogs then got a third place finish from the 4×200 team of Szalapski, Pelland, Megan Haselman and Lilly Alfsen.
Swanton’s Lathan Pawlowicz was runner-up in the 100m, 200m, and the long jump in the boys meet. Garrett Swank set the school record in the pole vault where he took second by clearing 9 feet, 6 inches.
Placing third for the boys were the 4×200 team of Zach Wernsing, Swank, Gavin Parker and Blaine Garnacz, as well as Bryce Marvin in the shot put and discus.
