A Swanton graduate helped Defiance College track and field place fifth at the Rose-Hulman Early Bird Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind. on Saturday.
Senior Hannah Williams of Swanton highlighted the day for the Yellow Jackets by bringing home a victory in the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 46.96 meters (154 feet, 1 inch). That throw makes Williams the second-best hammer thrower in DC history, behind Julie Risenburg’s mark of 48.08 meters in 2004.
Williams also finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 35.05 meters (115 feet).
