Evergreen scalps Apaches in straight sets

Evergreen volleyball used their own set of tomahawks, pounding kill after kill and ace after ace in routing Fairview 25-5, 25-12 and 25-8 to move to 5-1 on the season.

A number of Fairview errors along with Eden Eisel’s shot from the middle and an Alyssa Noe ace helped boost Evergreen to an early 9-1 first set lead.

Then, a thunderous slam from Haili Mossing, Megan Floyd’s ace, a couple of finesse push shots from Mossing and Kaela Fauble’s tomahawk slam from the middle boosted the lead to 21-5.

Eisel’s ace and Kori Kreuz’ right side shot off a blocker finished the first set.

Eisel and Mossing combined for five early points on a variety of emphatic slams to give the Vikings a 9-1 lead they continued to extend until Megan Floyd’s kill ended the second game.

The Vikings continued their wrath in the third set as Eisel hammered a bullet into the corner, then had a two-hand dunk at the net. Noe had back-to-back aces and Kreuz scored consecutive points from a right side kill and a shot off a Fairview blocker to give Evergreen a 15-4 lead.

The Vikings again extended the count as Fauble went back-to-back on a pair of shots from the middle before Floyd ended the match from the left side.

Evergreen moved to 6-1 on the season Saturday with a straight set win on the road at Division I Sylvania Southview, 25-18, 25-17, 25-16.

The Vikes stay on the road this week as after traveling to Lake on Monday, they are at Bryan in an NWOAL match Tuesday, then have another NWOAL game at Patrick Henry on Thursday.
