The Swanton boys soccer team opened the season on a winning note, shutting out Toledo Christian 3-0 on Saturday at Krupitzer Field.
Sophomore Riley Hensley got the Bulldogs first goal of the season for a 1-0 first half lead. Senior Trevor Schaller followed with another Swanton goal for a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, sophomore Alex Webb fired the ball past the keeper for an insurance goal and a 3-0 Swanton advantage. The Bulldogs came close to scoring a few more times, but the score remained 3-0 as time expired.
Ethan Branum got the shut out in his first game as Swanton’s new goalkeeper.
Late in the game, Trevor Schaller went down with an injury and had to be helped off the field.
Swanton will be in action again when they host Clay on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
