Softball team bests Woodward

The Swanton baseball team opened up the season Saturday by sweeping Northwood in a road doubleheader. The Bulldogs defeated the Rangers 15-3 in game one and 11-1 in game two.

In the first game, Michael Lawniczak led the Bulldogs at the plate where he went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs. Roman Epley went 2 for 4 with five RBIs, while Gunnar Oakes was 3 for 4 with three RBIs.

Noah Johnston got the win on the mound while allowing one earned run on two hits.

Epley got the win on the mound in game two. He held the Rangers to a run on one hit while striking out four.

Lawniczak again led the offense with three RBIs on a 2 for 3 effort in the batter’s box. Oakes was 2 for 2 with a pair of RBIs and three runs scored.

They will be at Start on Tuesday and host Waite on Wednesday.

The Swanton softball team picked up a pair of wins over Woodward on Saturday. Oliva Bergman fired a no-hitter and Taylor Dohm was 8 for 8 on the day.

Softball hosts Start on Tuesday, Waite on Wednesday and Rogers on Saturday.
