The NWOAL Cross Country Championships took place Saturday at Swanton as Wauseon won the boys meet and Liberty Center was victorious in the girls competition.
For Swanton, Brett Bettinger placed 14th with a time of 17:51.10. The next highest finisher for the Bulldogs was Brad Rhegness who finished 38th.
Kyle Vernot took first in the boys meet for the Indians, finishing in a time of 16:21. Wauseon then had five more runners in the top 12 as Aaron Beck (17:16.30) took seventh, Christian Laging-Suarez (17:17.70) eighth, Michael Cheezan (17:18.30) ninth, Joshua Lowry (17:23.30) 10th and Seth Hutchison (17:33.30) 11th.
Maverick Wright had a fourth place finish for Delta with a time of 16:53.50. Caden Garrow of Archbold (17:36.90) took 12th, while Ben Schwan (18:02.70) came in at 16th for Evergreen.
In the girls meet, Archbold finished second behind league champion Liberty Center. A pair of sophomores led the Blue Streaks with Gwynn Riley (20:33.10) finishing third and Dakota Stamm (20:43.10) fourth.
Behind Riley and Stamm was Hannah Richer of Wauseon who finished fifth with a time of 20:45.
Evergreen’s Sarah Schwan (21:24.80) placed eighth and Trinity Welch (22:32.90) 15th to lead the Vikings. For Delta, Grace Sonick (22:30) placed 13th and Rachel Buchhop (22:30.90) 14th.
