The aggressive defense of Liberty Center gave Swanton problems all night as the Bulldogs were held to a season low point total Friday at Kevin McQuade Gymnasium. When the final second ticked off the clock, Liberty Center had secured a 45-34 Northwest Ohio Athletic League victory.

Swanton, the defending NWOAL champions, dropped to 1-2 in league play.

The Tigers raced out to a 14-5 lead after the opening period. The Bulldogs battled back to tie the game in the second quarter, and went into the locker room at halftime, trailing 22-21.

However, Liberty Center dominated the third quarter scoring just as they did the first. They outscored Swanton 13-5 to take a 35-26 lead into the final quarter.

The Bulldogs tried to mount a comeback in the fourth, but could not close the deficit.

Cole Mitchey and Luc Borojevich had 11 points apiece to lead the Bulldogs (12-3). Gavin Geahlen led Liberty Center (7-6, 1-2 NWOAL) with 17 points.

Swanton bounced back on Saturday with a 44-38 win over Genoa. The Bulldogs trailed 15-9 after the first quarter, but outscored Genoa 14-2 in the second for a 23-17 halftime lead.

The Comets cut the lead to 28-27 after three, but Swanton outscored them 16-11 in the fourth for the win.

Hayden Callicotte had 10 points to lead Swanton. Walter Plantz scored 14 points for Genoa (10-4).

Swanton has just one game this week, playing host to Delta (11-2, 2-1 NWOAL) Friday in league play.
