Delta was right there with league favorite Bryan a minute into the second quarter, trailing by just two at 13-11.

That’s when Bryan senior captain Reese Grothaus took over.

Grothaus, who was the target of the Delta student section early on, quieted the masses by scoring 12 of her game-high 17 points during a massive 27-4 run, that turned a close game into a 61-38 Bryan romp.

The Golden Bears remain undefeated in league play.

Delta took an early 8-7 lead, paced by a pair of Grace Munger buckets.

Bryan rebounded despite six first quarter turnovers to take a 13-8 lead on putbacks by Grothaus and Blayze Langenderfer.

Khloe Weber’s long-range triple brought the Panthers within a pair with seven minutes left in the half.

That’s when Grothaus started her personal assault that began with a fast break hoop followed by a floater through the key, and the barrage finished with another Grothaus running one-hander, turning what was once a two-point lead to a 40-15 margin with three minutes left in the third.

In between, Ella Rau hit twice from outside the arc, while Josey Arnold and Ella Voigt knocked home one each.

Grothaus got into what looked like a three-point shooting game of H-O-R-S-E by meshing two times for the Bears from outside as Bryan canned nine triples on the night.

Delta came as close as 20 when Munger and Weber made back-to-back baskets early in the fourth, but the Bears gained their biggest margin when Katie Thiel scored in tight for a 59-29 lead with 4:42 left.

For the game, Bryan committed a whopping 25 turnovers and shot just 38 percent.

However, the Bears harassed Delta into 35 miscues and the Panthers got off 18 less shots than Bryan, going 17-42 for 41 percent.

Rau and Voigt each added 11 points for Bryan.

Weber had 15 and Munger 13 for Delta.
