In a game that both teams needed to win to stake a claim to a league title, both teams got neither as Evergreen and Delta battled to a scoreless tie Tuesday night in Northwest Ohio Athletic League boys soccer action at Pifer Field.
Evergreen rattled off 24 shots while the Panthers had 13, but goalie Brodey Roth came up with save after save, getting 17 in all to keep the Panthers in the match.
Walker Lumbrezer had seven saves for the Vikings.
Roth set the tone for the game less than three minutes in when he stopped Tyson Woodring from the right side.
Lumbrezer matched him when the Viking goalkeeper stoned Cayden Mignin eight minutes later.
Roth stopped Konnor Sanford from the left side with 17 left in the half to keep the match scoreless, then came up with save after save in the second half. He made a trio of stops four minutes in when Nick Rosinski and Woodring had the best chances from a right angle, then a rebound.
Because of the tie and the soccer point system regarding wins and ties, Archbold ended up being the league champ in spite of their loss earlier in the season to Delta.
