Swanton’s Kayden Davis clears 5 feet, 10 inches in the high jump on day one of the NWOAL Track and Field Championships on Tuesday, May 10. For the meet, Davis secured league titles in the high jump, long jump and in the 300m hurdles.


When the running finals were completed Friday night, Wauseon had beat out Archbold in the boys meet for the league title at the Northwest Ohio Athletic League Track and Field Championships which Archbold hosted.

It was the program’s first league title since 2018. Liberty Center handily won the girls meet, 190-103 over runner-up Bryan. The Wauseon girls recorded 85 points and took third.

During Friday’s finals, the Indian boys were led by Jonas Tester who took home titles in the 200m and 400m. He posted a time of 23.12 in the 200m and 51.79 in the 400m.

Jack Callan of Wauseon added a runner-up finish in the 800m.

For the Swanton boys, Kayden Davis added to his trophy case with a win in the 300m hurdles, after winning the high jump and long jump titles during the field event finals three days prior.

Delta’s Eli Mora was second to Davis in the 300 hurdles, while the Panthers’ Ronnie Wyse finished second in the 110m hurdles.

Evergreen’s Evan Lumbrezer took second in the 200m.

The Wauseon girls got a second place finish from Grace Rhoades in the 3200m. She also took third in the 1600m.

Archbold’s Chloe Merillat won the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.31 and finished second in the 300m hurdles. The Streaks’ Sophie Rupp added a win in the 400m, running the race in 1:00.84.

Andrea VanWert won the 100m for Evergreen, posting a time of 12.97. The Swanton girls’ best finishes Friday came from Brooke Dockery who took third in the 800m and Jessica Finfera who placed third in the 200m.
