LIBERTY CENTER — Swanton got revenge from an earlier loss as they traveled to Liberty Center Thursday and earned a 34-27 victory over the Tigers in Northwest Ohio Athletic League girls basketball.

The Bulldogs previously fell to LC 50-37 in the championship of the Bob Fisher Holiday Classic held in late December.

In this contest, Swanton got 12 points from Averie Lutz to lead all scorers. Aricka Lutz and Frankie Nelson each tacked on nine.

Cassidy Chapa had eight to lead the Tigers.

Swanton (13-5, 4-1 NWOAL) will travel to Delta this Thursday and hosts Otsego on Saturday.

The Bulldogs also learned where and with whom they will be playing in the opening round of action in the Division III, Whitehouse District. They received the seventh seed in the district.

Coincidently, Swanton will host eighth-seeded Liberty Center — the two teams’ third meeting this season — in a sectional semifinal Thursday, Feb. 18 with a 7 p.m. tipoff.

The winner gets either fifth-seed Wauseon or ninth-seeded Archbold in the sectional final two days later. That contest is also set for 7 p.m. and will be held at the higher-seeded team’s site.
