The Evergreen girls basketball team has some speed this season that should help them dictate tempo in their games.

“I think this group will surprise some teams,” said fifth-year coach Brittaney Cymbolin. “Their ability to pick up the pace and put pressure on teams through guard play will be fun to watch.”

Returning for the Vikings are Bekah Bowser (12 points per game), first team All-Northwest Ohio Athletic League; Jordan Lumbrezer (5 ppg); Paige Radel (4 ppg); Sydney Woodring; and Morgan Foster.

Newcomers for the Vikings include Macy Chamberlin, Jocelyn Schuster, Jessica Riggs and Brianna Sintobin.

“This group has a positive attitude and works extremely hard. Our guards will be quick, so hopefully we can run a fast-pace game,” stated Cymbolin.

The Vikings will lose Savannah VanOstrand (8 ppg) and Nicole Brand (5 ppg), each of whom were honorable mention All-NWOAL a season ago. Also gone are Maddy Peluso (5 ppg), Kennedi Keifer (4 ppg), and Naomi Brand (1 ppg).

“Our weakness will be our height,” Cymbolin said.

The tallest person on the team is Foster at 5-10. Also, Radel and Schuster each stand at 5-8.

Evergreen begins the season at Cardinal Stritch on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
