The Archbold boys basketball team shot 70 percent in the first quarter of Friday’s game to sprint out to a 14 point lead, and went on to defeat Evergreen, 53-34, to stay undefeated in the NWOAL at 7-0.
Eli Miller and Bryce Williams each hit a pair of three-pointers in the opening stanza as the Streaks went 7 for 10 in the opening stanza, compared to Evergreen’s 3 for 10, to take a 20-6 lead.
Another Miller triple along with one from Kaiden Bedsole, while a pair of Mike Weigand buckets countered two Bryce Hudik hoops, including a three-ball in the second to take a 33-15 halftime lead.
The Vikings never got closer than 13 in the second half as both teams traded hoops during the final 16 minutes.
Weigand’s 12 points and Miller’s 11 led Archbold, while Hudik had a game high of 16 for the Vikings.
Archbold shot 54 percent for the game compared to Evergreen’s 31 percent that included 11 missed layups.
The Streaks (13-7 overall) attempt to remain undefeated in the NWOAL and clinch an outright title at Bryan Friday night.
The Vikings (7-13, 1-6 NWOAL) finish the regular season at Delta Friday.
