NAPOLEON – The NWOAL bowling tournament was held on Friday at River City Bowl-A-Way in Napoleon, and the Bulldogs had a good showing.
The Swanton boys surprised with a fourth place finish in the tournament, while the girls placed fifth. However, both teams from Bryan would do just enough to finish as league champions, after tournament scores were combined with regular season standings.
In the girls match, the Bulldogs had a pair of bowlers place in the top 10. Swanton’s Jordan Furko finished runner-up with a 561 series, and Abby Lawson tied for fourth with a 545. The top 5 made the all-tournament team.
Lauren Smith added a 380 for Swanton, Rachel Jordan 368, Tonya Timpe 264 in two games, and Haley McMahan 101 in one game.
For the season, Lawson also earned second team all-league honors.
Rolling high for Evergreen was Courtney Wilson, who took 17th with a 451 series. Delta’s Alli Hite placed 13th and had a 487 series.
For the Swanton boys, Chris Crayton took fifth place overall with a 579 series total. Swanton’s Skyler Ulch and Justin Timpe each rolled a 518, while Fred Blankenship added a 449 and David Patch a 320 in two games and Wyatt Lake 105 in one game.
Delta’s Blake Gladieux finished just outside the top 10, coming in at 12th with a 532. Evergreen’s Evan Conrad took 13th with a 525.
