Bulldog cross country season comes to close

FINDLAY – The cross country season wrapped up on Saturday for area teams as runners took part in the district meet held at Findlay Owens.

There was one local qualifier as Nickolas Sherick of Delta placed 18th in the Division III boys meet. He ran the race in 17:53.3.

Swanton’s boys competed in Division II, but most of their runners placed 50th and beyond.

Abel Carman led the Bulldogs, taking 51st with a time of 21:10.92. Tyler Boyd was 52nd (21:35.53), Blake Szalapski 56th (21:35.53), Trace Benson 59th (22:12.87) and Joseph Sarvo 62nd (23:09.9). Josh Chonk trailed Sarvo at 63rd (23:52.24).

The Swanton girls – competing in Division III – were led by Ellie Hartford who finished 44th with a time of 22:42.45. Just edging Hartford was Jenna Hallett of Delta at 43rd (22:41.95). Ashley Keaton finished 74th with a time of 25:37.55 for the Bulldogs.

The Evergreen girls had a pair in the top 30 as Kennedy Keller finished 27th (22:04.58) and Kayla Gleckler 29th (22:08.61).

In the D-III boys race, the Evergreen boys got a 40th place finish (18:47.16) from Augie Tipping.
