BRYAN – Swanton and Evergreen had some decent individual performances despite finishing at the back of the league in the overall standings Saturday at the Northwest Ohio Athletic League cross country meet held in Bryan.
In the boys meet, Evergreen finished sixth out of seven qualifying teams with 138 points. Swanton was seventh with 190.
The Evergreen girls took sixth with 132 points. Swanton did not field a full girls team.
At the front of the pack for the Bulldog boys was Abel Carman who finished 34th with a time of 18:42.77. Shortly behind him, Garrett Bradish took 36th (18:47.89). Tyler Boyd placed 44th (19:24.29), Blake Szalapski 56th (20:22.63) and Josh Chonko 64th (21:12.83).
Evergreen’s boys were propelled by an eighth place finish from Augie Tipping, running the race in 16:58.36. Anderson Tipping finished 28th (18:33.45) for the Vikings, Evan Pennington 31st (18:40.21), Chandler Ruetz 35th (18:43.10) and Carson LeRoux 47th (19:32.25).
For Delta, Nickolas Sherick was 13th with a time of 17:29.52.
The Bulldog girls’ best finish came from Ellie Hartford at 27th (21:55.34). Ashley Keaton was 45th (24:11.36) and Serena King 62nd (30:52.09) for Swanton.
Evergreen’s Kennedy Keller finished 15th (20:40.17). Kayla Gleckler was 25th (21:38.72), Deanna Huffman 30th (22:18.48), Lyndi Williamson 36th (22:39.38) and Emma Majewski 50th (25:16.01).
Jenna Hallett placed 26th (21:46.55) for Delta.
Swanton, Evergreen and Delta will now compete at a district meet at Findlay Owens this Saturday. The Swanton boys are in the Division II meet, while all other area teams will run in the Division III races.
