Swanton cross country off and running

DELPHOS – The Swanton High School cross country teams started the season over the weekend at the Blue Jay Invitational hosted by Delphos St. John’s. The girls finished sixth as a team and the boys 12th.

The Oberle sisters led the way for the Bulldog girls with Bobbie finishing seventh in 21:12 and Brooke ninth in 21:14. Briona Davis was 37th with a time of 23:37, Ellie Hartford 50th in 24:25, and Ashley Keaton 90th in 27:57.

Columbus Grove won the team title with a score of 52. Swanton’s score was 150.

On the boys side, Abel Carman led Swanton, finishing 50th with a time of 19:48. Blake Szalapski was 73rd with a time of 20:37, Trace Benson was 85th with a time of 21:03, Kayden Davis was 88th with a time of 21:07 and Tyler Boyd was 105th with a time of 21:40.

Columbus Grove had 45 points to win the team title, edging out Anna, who had 47. Swanton had 293.

Swanton will compete at the Otsego Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.
