The Swanton boys soccer team had a tough start to the season Saturday, falling to Toledo Christian 4-1.

Casey Hardy recorded a hat trick for the Eagles as they built a 4-0 advantage.

Riley Hensley got the Bulldogs on the board with their first goal of the season to cut the deficit to 4-1 with about 25 minutes to play. But Swanton could not add to the total. Mason Sullivan got the assist on the goal.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to open Northwest Ohio Athletic League play Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Evergreen. Swanton then travels to Waite on Thursday and hosts Maumee Valley Country Day School on Saturday.
