Swanton girls runner-up, boys eighth at Gibsonburg Invitational

GIBSONBURG – The Swanton track and field team was in Gibsonburg Thursday for the Gibsonburg Invitational. The Bulldog girls finished runner-up to Lake with 94 points, while the boys placed eighth with 46 points.

The Lady Flyers finished with 106.7 points. Otsego won the boys meet with 103 points.

In the boys meet, Swanton’s Brett Bettinger won the 3200 meter run, finishing with a time of 10:32.51.

The Swanton girls picked up a pair of titles in field events. Jasmin Kenzie won the high jump as she cleared 4 feet, 10 inches. The Bulldogs’ Avril Roberts was second to Kenzie, clearing 4 feet, 8 inches.

Hannah Grabke cleared 9 feet to win the pole vault for Swanton.

NWOAL Tri-Meet

Last Tuesday Swanton hosted Liberty Center and Bryan for a Northwest Ohio Athletic League tri-meet, taking third in both meets.

The Liberty Center boys won with 83.5 points, Bryan was second at 59.5 points, and Swanton third with 31 points. Liberty Center’s girls won with 86 points, Bryan took second at 55 points, and Swanton third at 28 points.

Dylan Gilsdorf won titles in the high jump and 800m for the Bulldogs. He cleared 6 feet in the high jump, and ran the 800m in 2:07.93.

Xavier Williams won the 100m with a time of 12.34.

The Swanton girls got a title from Grace Oakes in the discus. Her best throw was 105 feet, 3 inches.
