Dogs finish 10th at Lima Central Catholic Wrestling Invitational

LIMA – Swanton had a first place finisher and runner-up performer to place 10th at the 43-team Lima Central Catholic Thunderbird Wrestling Invitational Friday and Saturday.

The Bulldogs placed 10th with 90 points. Troy Christian won the tournament with 193.5 points.

Ryan Marvin took home the 152-pound title while Zach Schaller was runner-up at 126 pounds.

Marvin opened up with two pins, plus a 15-4 major decision over Jimmy Recknagel of Eastwood to reach the semifinal. He then added 3-2 wins over Noah Inboden of Nelsonville-York and Keringten Martin of Covington to claim the title.

Schaller won by pin in three of his first four matches. He also picked up a 2-1 win over Xavier Escobedo of Eastwood.

He was pinned by Ethan Turner of Troy Christian in the 126-pound final.

Swanton will next be in action at the Division III regional team dual tournament at Genoa on Saturday. They face Rossford in the opening round with the winner taking on Genoa, one of the top teams in the state.
