DEFIANCE – Swanton finished 3-7 at the 2018 Fricker’s Duals held on the campus of Defiance College Friday and Saturday.
The Bulldogs defeated Logan Elm 54-21 in their first match Friday, then picked up a 47-21 win over Ayersville and 54-21 win over Defiance on Saturday.
Swanton suffered losses to Edison, Romeo, Hudson, Elmwood, Anthony Wayne, Avon and Caledonia River Valley.
The best individual record from the tournament for Swanton was Ryan Marvin, who finished 8-0. Zach Schaller finished 8-2, Ian Saunders 7-2, and Brodie Stevens 6-4.
Earning pins against Logan Elm for the Dogs were Zeth Zawodni at 132 pounds, Marvin (152), Saunders (160), Xavier Wiemken (170) and Zachary LaPlante (113).
Other winners were Stevens (285) with a 2-1 ultimate tiebreaker over Collin Roar and Schaller (126) with a 3-1 decision over Dylan Hartranft. Winning by forfeit for the Dogs were Cody DeKoeyer (138), Tyler Gowing (145), and Zackary Zawodni (182).
Picking up pins versus Ayersville were LaPlante (120), Zeth Zawodni (126), Schaller (132), DeKoeyer (145), Hunter Gowing (160), Zackary Zawodni (170), Connor Cass (195) and Stevens (285).
Winning by fall in the Defiance dual were LaPlante (120), DeKoeyer (138), Ethan Branum (145), Marvin (152), Saunders (160), Cass (195) and Zaven Waddell (220). Zeth Zawodni (132) and Zackary Zawodni (182) earned wins by forfeit for the Dogs.
Swanton is at Wauseon for a Northwest Ohio Athletic League quad on Thursday, then they travel to Springfield for a match Saturday at 11 a.m.
