Swanton volleyball falls to top seed Tinora

DEFIANCE – The Swanton volleyball season ended last Tuesday when the Bulldogs fell 25-19, 25-16, 25-17 to Tinora in a Division III district semifinal at Defiance.

“This year was a season where we lost some close, tough matches with some breaks that didn’t go our way,” said Bulldog mentor Kyle Borer. “We battled every night out. I am very proud of this group of girls on how we finished the season strong. We came together and played hard for each other. We had a solid season and we reached a few of the goals we set back in August. Winning another sectional championship was the main goal we achieved. So, to get back to districts with the ups and downs this season has had, we are happy to finish on a successful note. I will miss our seniors a lot. They are great kids. They have been a part of some very successful teams in their time as part of the Swanton volleyball program.”

Alexis Sarvo finished with eight kills for the Bulldogs on 13 of 15 hitting. Sammi Taylor added eight digs and three aces, while Kylie Ulch had 10 digs.

Tinora, who has lost only one set this season, went on to win the district with a sweep of Fairview on Thursday.
