Mayor’s Minute

New administrator is a Toledo native

By Ann Roth - Mayor of Swanton

I am pleased to announce that The Village of Swanton will have a new Village Administrator starting March 7, 2016. Rosanne Hoelzle comes to Swanton with seven years’ experience serving Perrysburg Township. She is a Toledo native, a graduate of Notre Dame Academy, John Carroll University, and The University of Toledo where she earned her master’s degree in Public Administration. She has much knowledge in all aspects of municipal government, and I am confident she will be a strong leader for our village. We will plan a meet and greet for Rosanna soon.

Bids for two major projects were recently advertised. The ODOT Airport Highway project from Turtle Creek to County Road 3 and the Garfield Avenue Bridge replacement are scheduled for 2016 and 2018 respectively. The Ohio Department of Transportation will be funding the majority of these projects, with the village paying for approximately 10 percent of both. The start date for the Airport Highway improvement has not officially been announced, but we anticipate summertime.

Looking forward to summer, our annual fireworks show is scheduled for Saturday, July 2, 2016 with the rain date of July 3. The high school area is the best seat for the show, and there will be many food vendors and a DJ starting at 6 p.m. Tell your friends and family to mark their calendars now for the best fireworks show in Northwest Ohio!

And, as always, please remember to check on your neighbors regularly, help those who struggle with snow shoveling, and speak kindly, especially about the Village of Swanton!
