Tuesday, Oct. 23

Swanton Township Board of Trustees will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the township hall at the corner of Airport Highway and Scott Road. The public is welcome.

Thursday, Oct. 25

Swancreek Water District will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the township hall, 5565 County Road D. The public is welcome to attend.

Swiss Steak Dinner, 5-7 p.m., Berkey Congregational Church, 12036 Sylvania-Metamora Road. Menu includes Swiss steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, hot vegetable, Cole slaw, applesauce and pickles, dinner roll and butter, desserts, beverage. Cost is $9 for adults. Children’s prices available. Dine in or carry out.

Saturday, Oct. 27

Paws to Read, 10:30 a.m., Swanton Public Library. Children sign up to read aloud for 15 minutes to a certified therapy dog, who is happy just to listen. Improve reading skills and have fun reading with a friendly dog at the same time. Kids can read in 15-minute slots; six slots are available. Slots can be shared for kids who want to come in together. Halloween Hoopla, 3-5 p.m., downtown Swanton. Family friendly event with activities including a straw maze, games and trick-or-treating at local businesses.

Trick-or-treating, 6-7:30 p.m., Village of Swanton.

Drug Take Back Day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Swanton Village Hall conference room, 219 Chestnut St. Drop off unwanted, unused and expired medications, including syringes, liquids, lotions, and pills.

Open house at Beach Ridge Area of Oak Openings, future site of Cannaley Treehouse Village. Noon to 2 p.m. Located at 3520 Waterville Swanton Road in Swanton.

Monday, Oct. 29

Flu shot clinic, 3-5 p.m., Swanton Public Library.Many types of insurance, as well as Medicaid and Medicare, are accepted. For more information, call the Fulton County Health Department at 419-337-0915.

Saturday, Nov. 3

Home Craft Show & Lunch, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Shiloh Christian Union Church Fellowship Hall, 2100 County Road 5, Delta. There will be a wonderful selection of homemade crafts and gifts to buy. Delicious homemade soup, sandwiches and pie will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or until gone).

Monday, Nov. 5

Monday, Nov. 12

Swanton Village Council will meet at 7 p.m. in Swanton Village Council chambers, 219 Chestnut St. The Water and Sewer and Finance committees will meet prior to the regular meeting, beginning at 6 p.m.The meeting is open to the public.

Weekly/Monthly Event

Swanton Garden Club will hold monthly meetings. They will meet the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Call Jan Heyman at 419-206-2047 or Elfrieda Jewell at 419-826-4129 prior to the meeting to find out the location.

Growing through Grief Bereavement Group will meet the fourth Tuesday of every month from 3:30-5 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 N. Main St., Swanton. Conducted by licensed bereavement counselors, the sessions are free and open to anyone in the community who is interested in attending. Pre-registration is required.
