Swanton to celebrate Halloween Saturday

Staff Report

With October soon drawing to a close, it is nearly time again for little ghosts and goblins to roam the streets in search of treats.

Swanton will be celebrating Halloween on Saturday with a party downtown and trick-or-treating.

The Halloween fun starts with what has become an annual tradition, the Halloween Hoopla, from 3-5 p.m. Taking place in downtown Swanton, the ninth annual Hoopla offers a safe, family-friendly event for all ages.

This year the Halloween Hoopla will include bouncy houses, scary dancers, pedal carts, free hot dogs and corn dogs, hot chocolate, popcorn, candy, cookie decorating, a straw maze, and trunk or treat with McNeill Chevrolet Buick.

Main Street downtown and sections of some other streets will be closed to traffic for the event.

Trick-or-treating will be from 6-7:30 p.m. in the village.

Also in the area, Delta will hold trick-or-treating on Oct. 31 from 5:30-7 p.m. Metamora will have trick-or-treating on Oct. 31 from 6-7:30 p.m.

In Whitehouse, trick-or-treating will be held on Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m. The Whitehouse American Legion will host a Children’s Halloween Party at the Whitehouse American Legion Post #384, 6910 Providence St. This is a free event, open to the public.

Springfield Township and Holland will hold trick-or-treating on Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m.
