SPL plans adult activities

July will be filled with activities for adults at the Swanton Public Library on Chestnut Street.

July Yoga Schedule

Mixed Level Hatha Yoga I & II will be held on Mondays, the 2nd, 16th, 23rd, and 30th from 10:15-11:45 a.m. These sessions are slightly more advanced, providing an opportunity to expand participants’ skill levels. Class fee is $10 per session.

Hatha Yoga Basics will be offered on Thursdays, 5th, 12th, 19st, and 26th from 10:15-11:45 a.m. Class fee is by donation, and proceeds benefit the library.

Card Making

July’s card making class will be held on July 26 in the Community Room from 6:30-8 p.m. This month’s theme is embossing! Class fee is $6 (for three cards) and all supplies are provided for you. Children 8 and older are welcome accompanied by an adult. Call or stop in to register today.

Canvas Painting

Just in time for summer, join Donna Mills on for this month’s canvas painting class on July 12 from 5-8 p.m. July’s painting follows our Summer Reading theme: Libraries Rock! Donna will teach you how to paint a customized, stylized guitar of your own. All supplies provided. Class fee is $25 per person and registration is required.

Avoiding Phone Scams

Christa Luttmann of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office will host a free program on how to identify and avoid phone scams. Scam activity has increased recently, and the scammers are becoming better at their job. If you want to know more about this topic, come to the SPL Community Room on July 17t from 6-8 p.m. Room is limited, so stop in or call to register!

Ohio Means Jobs

On July 31 from 2-3:30 p.m. meet with a representative of Fulton Co. Job and Family Services to learn about this indispensable job-hunting tool that’s completely free to use. All you need is a computer and the internet. Room is limited, so stop into the library or call to register.

Game Night

The library is kicking off the circulation of a new game collection with the first SPL Game Night! Adults and teens, they’ll be taking over the Children’s Room and playing a staff-picked game headed by our librarians on July 25 from 5:30-8 p.m. Pizza and other refreshments will be provided.

Ongoing Programs

Come and join the chess group on Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. or Saturday afternoons at 1 p.m. Players of all skill levels are invited.

Also join us at the library to craft with our Knitting/Crochet group on Wednesdays in July, the 11th and 25th, at 6:30 p.m. Beginners are welcome.

The monthly Writers’ Group will be meeting at 7 p.m. on July 5.
