After 50 years, Cleland’s Outdoor World is under new ownership. Owners Jan Trask and Ken Shields, the new mother and son duo, took over in February and have big plans to expand the shop’s offering.

Ken and Jan are thrilled and excited to take what Gary and Theresa built over the years and continue to provide excellent customer service. Among other things, Ken and Jan will focus on expanding the youth archery program (JOAD), firearms and archery classes, lessons, and events.

Their goal is to continue to provide the same superior customer service when you walk through Cleland’s doors, as you once received when you walked through the garage door of the fine men and women who have made Cleland’s a reality. Their excitement and passion are proving to be contagious as Cleland’s team, which still consists of original Cleland family members, are thrilled to have them as their new pathfinders in the success of Cleland’s Outdoor World.

A grand re-opening is planned for June 2, with special celebrity guest, Travis (T-Bone) Turner, from the Bone Collectors. Switchback Catering will be grilling up their specialty foods and there will be live music and a youth and adult bow and gun giveaway, along with many other activities.

The annual tent sale will follow the June 2 date, running from June 3-8, with special events planned every day. GRACE greyhound rescue will be out as well as the Swanton and Monclova fire departments.
