Swanton library offering activities

The Swanton Public Library is offering a variety of events in the month of March.

Nature Painting Class: Donna Mills, local painter and instructor, will host a painting class suitable for beginners on Thursday, March 22, from 5-8 p.m. Participants will paint birch trees on a 15” x 20” canvas using different methods, including a credit card. An example of the painting is on display at the library. The $25 fee includes all supplies. Registration is required.

Yoga: New series, Core Strengthening, Mondays, March 5, 12, 19, 26, 7 p.m. Focus will be on the shoulders and neck. One hour class with a 10-15 minute deep relaxation at the end. Fee is $30.

Mixed Level Hatha Yoga I & II: Mondays, March 5, 12, 19, and 26, 10:15-11:45 a.m. Slightly more advanced, providing an opportunity to expand participants’ skill levels. Class fee is $10 per session.

Hatha Yoga Basics: Thursdays, March 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, 10:15-11:45 a.m. Class fee is by donation; proceeds benefit the library.

Chair Yoga: Thursdays, March 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, 2-3 p.m. Involves poses modified to be gentler while sitting or standing and holding a chair. Class fee is $5

Writers’ Group: First Thursday each month, 7-8 p.m. Next meeting is April 5. Registration requested but walk-ins welcome. Do you want to write but are not sure how to get started? Are you a writer interested in input on your work? Group-led by local freelance author Nathan Jacobs.

Adult Book Club: Thursday, March 8, 7 p.m. Marty Kaback’s book club will visit the library to discuss “Lost in the Forest” by Sue Miller. April’s book: “The Practical Navigator” by Stephen Metcalfe. Both books available at the front desk. New readers welcome.

Card Making: Thursday, March 15, 6:30 p.m., hosted by Anna Geis. Class fee is $6.

Knitting/Crocheting: Wednesdays, March 7 and 21, 6:30 p.m. Beginners welcome.

Chess: The group meets Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 1 p.m. Players of all skill levels welcome.
