Swanton Public Library plans adult programs

This month the Swanton Public Library has multiple programs available for adults.

“Bad Art” Night

Not been able to find your niche with art programs? Feel like you’re not very artistic? Then come to the library’s “Bad Art” night, a freestyle craft event designed for everyone, artistic or not.

Participants will have access to various craft and art materials and are encouraged to be as creative (or not) as they like. The “worst” piece of art will win a trophy at the end of the night.

The night will run from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22. All ages are welcome.

February Yoga Schedule

Hatha Yoga Basics will be offered on Thursdays, Feb. 8, and 15 from 10:15 am to 11:45 am. Class fee is by donation, and proceeds benefit the library. There will be no class on Feb. 22.

Chair Yoga will be held on Thursdays, Feb. 8, and 15 from 2-3 p.m. This class involves poses modified to be gentler while sitting or standing holding a chair. Class fee is $5. No class on Feb. 22.

Mixed Level Hatha Yoga I & II will be held on Mondays, Feb. 5 and 12 from 10:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. These sessions are slightly more advanced, providing an opportunity to expand participants’ skill levels. Class fee is $10 per session.

Coming in March: Core-Strengthening Yoga.

Blind Date

with a Book

Want a little mystery in your reading life? Then stop by the display by the front desk to see all the books waiting to meet you. The twist? The books are wrapped so you won’t be able to see the cover or title, just a few clues written on the outside to give a hint of what the book inside is about.

Ongoing Programs

Marty Kaback’s book club will be at the library Thursday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m., to discuss “The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto” by Mitch Albom. New readers are always welcome. February’s book will be “Lost in the Forest” by Sue Miller. Both books are available at the front desk.

Knitting/Crocheting group will meet Wednesdays, February 7 and 21 at 6:30 p.m. Join the chess group on Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. or Saturday afternoons at 1 pm. Players of all skill levels are welcomed.

The next board of library trustees meeting will be on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
