The Swanton Public Library has announced December programs for adults, including yoga and a book club.
Interested in feedback on your writing? If so, you’re invited to join the writers’ group led by local freelance writer Nathan Jacobs. The group meets at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month; this month’s meeting is on Thursday, Dec. 7. The writers’ workshop normally held at the end of each month will be on hiatus until January.
Solstice Celebration: Yoga Flow
Join yoga instructor Aimee Strohbeck from 7-8:15 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, for a special ‘winter solstice celebration’ yoga class. This class is for more experienced yoga practitioners and is not recommended for beginners. Cost is free, with a suggested $10 donation to the library.
December Yoga Schedule
Mixed Level Hatha Yoga will be held on Mondays, Dec. 4, 11, and 18 from 10:15-11:45 a.m. These sessions are slightly more advanced, providing an opportunity to expand participants’ skill levels. Class fee is $10 per session. There will be no class on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1.
Beginning/ Hatha 1 Yoga will be offered on Thursdays, Dec. 7, 14, and 21 from 10:15-11:45 a.m. Class fee is by donation, proceeds benefit the library. There will be no class on Dec. 28.
Chair Yoga will be held on Thursdays, Dec. 7, 14, and 21 from 2-3 p.m.; this class involves poses modified to be gentler while sitting or standing holding a chair. Class fee is $5. No class on Dec. 28.
Adult Book Club
All readers are invited to Marty Kaback’s book discussion at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14, to discuss “The Almost Sisters” by Joshilyn Jackson. The next discussion will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, to discuss “The Rosie Project” by Graeme Simsion. Copies of the book will be available at the front desk on Dec. 14.
Knitting/Crocheting group will meet Wednesdays, Dec. 13 and 27 at 6:30 p.m. Beginners are always welcome to the group. Join the chess group on Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. or Saturday afternoons at 1 pm. Players of all skill levels are welcomed.
