Three Lourdes University students are strengthening their leadership skills while assisting new students adjust to college life. As captains of first year orientation, Garrett Jones, Lindsay Lehman and Megan Mosiniak are coordinating and executing the 2015-16 orientation program.
The captains help recruit, interview, select and train the entire 2015 orientation team roster; work closely with campus offices and schedule, work and assess the weekend orientation program. “Their enthusiasm and creativity makes for an educational, fun and successful transition for our newest students,” says Becky Tobias, Assistant Dean of Student Life.
All student captains are in their senior year and play for Gray Wolves teams sports. This marks the third year they are participating in the first year orientation program.
· A social work major from Swanton, Megan Mosiniak is a member of the softball team. This is also her first year as an orientation captain.
· A criminal justice major from Las Vegas, N. V., Garrett Jones is an outside hitter on the volleyball team. This is his second year as an orientation captain.
· An early childhood education major from Sylvania, Lindsay Lehman was a member of the golf team for four years. This is her first year as an orientation captain.
On Aug. 16, the three leaders began training the 43-member orientation team. Then on Friday, Aug. 21, more than 200 new Lourdes students traveled Lourdes University for new student orientation and the beginning of fall semester.
