With the new school year just under two months away, Swanton Schools officials are tasked with replacing three administrators.
Superintendent Jeff Schlade, who has been with the district five years, recently accepted the position of director of human resources at Lakewood Schools in Northeast Ohio.
Longtime Swanton Local Schools administrator Paulette Baz has accepted the position of director of federal programs at Springfield Local Schools in Holland. Baz has been with the district since 2002 when she was hired as middle school principal. She also served as superintendent and, most recently, as elementary principal.
Also, Tim Ford accepted the position of assistant supervisor, students affairs office, at Penta Career Center in Perrysburg Township. Ford served as assistant elementary school principal last school year and was set to be an assistant principal for the 2017-18 school year.
Schlade, who is Swanton’s Superintendent through the end of this month, has started the process to replace the other two administrators, according to Kris Oberheim, Swanton Board of Education president.
“It is the board’s goal to have permanent leaders in place at the start of the school year,” said Oberheim. “We have a great team in place with our current administrators and teachers who will continue to educate our children and assist with the transition.”
The students’ first day of school for the 2017-18 school year is Sept. 7.
Oberheim has also contacted Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center (NWOESC) to assist with the superintendent search. There was a special board meeting planned for Monday, July 10 to hire an interim superintendent as well as approve NWOESC to assist with the search. The search fee is $500 to the district as well as $250 to post on the OSBA website.
“It is our goal to have a superintendent in place by Sept. 1,” said Oberheim.
