Swanton High School students qualify for BPA nationals

Swanton High School accounting students Tanner Callicotte; Natalie Walbolt; Duyane Goings; Haley McMahan; Allison Mishka; Trevor Schaller; Lauren O’Riordan; Jarrett Macek; Chase Avalos and Madelyn Silveous qualified through regional academic competitions to compete at the Ohio Business Professionals of America State Accounting Contest in Columbus on March 16-17.

Of the 10 accounting students competing, 7 received All-State State Top Ten honors in their respective divisions, with four of them qualifying to represent the state of Ohio at the National Business Professionals of America contest in Orlando Florida May 9-14.

National qualifiers are Trevor Schaller in Fundamental Accounting, Jarrett Macek in Advanced Accounting and Madelyn Silveous and Allison Mishka in Payroll Accounting.

Students are part of the Swanton accounting program that is funded through Penta Career Center. Swanton students receive dual-enrollment college credit with their high school course work.
