Swanton Township Trustees will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the township hall, 13410 Airport Highway. The public is welcome to attend.

Thursday, March 2

Free Dinner for All, Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 Dodge St., Swanton. Menu includes shredded roast beef sandwiches, green beans, macaroni salad, various desserts, punch and coffee. Serving 5-6:30 p.m. in church hall. The U-14 Swanton travel baseball team is hosting the March meal.

Saturday, March 4

Travel Circle: Teardropping Across the Sierra and Rocky Mountains, Oak Openings Lodge. Spend an afternoon with Maumee Valley Adventurers. Hike or ski at 1 p.m., weather permitting. At 2:15 p.m., enjoy a slide show presented by a guest speaker. Each week features an exciting, new world travel destination. Free. No registration required.

Swancreek Township Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. at the township building, 5565 County Road D. The meeting is open to the public.

Wednesday, March 8

Adult Book Discussion, 7 p.m., Swanton Public Library. The topic is the novel “The Perfect Girl” by Gilly MacMillan. Copies are available at the front desk.

Swancreek Water District will meet at 6:30 p.m. at 5565 County Road D. The public is welcome to attend.

Tales and Trails: Signs of Spring, 10-11 a.m., Oak Openings Buehner Center. Weekly fun for our youngest park visitors. Preschoolers, toddlers, and their guardians enjoy story time, a walk and create a nature craft to take home. Cost is $3. Register at metroparkstoledo.com.

Sunday, March 12

Ten-Mile Hike, 10 a.m. Oak Openings Lodge parking lot. Explore the winter beauty of the sand dunes, prairies, forests and oak savannahs of the Oak Openings region while searching for the first early signs of the coming spring. We’ll stop for lunch, a fire, and warm beverages halfway through the hike to stay toasty. Pack water and your own lunch. Sturdy hiking shoes/boots recommended. Dress for the weather. Free. Swanton Village Council will meet at the Swanton Municipal Building, 219 Chestnut St. at 7 p.m. The Finance and Water and Sewer committees will meet prior to the regular meeting. The public is welcome to attend.

Swanton Board of Education will meet at the board office, 108 N. Main St at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

Weekly/Monthly Event

Swanton Garden Club will hold monthly meetings. They will meet the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Call Jan Heyman at 419-206-2047 or Elfrieda Jewell at 419-826-4129 prior to the meeting to find out the location.

Growing through Grief Bereavement Group will meet the fourth Tuesday of every month from 3:30-5 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 N. Main St., Swanton. Conducted by licensed bereavement counselors, the sessions are free and open to anyone in the community who is interested in attending. Pre-registration is required.
