Military honored at Marathon Classic

SYLVANIA – The Marathon Classic Presented by Owens Corning and O-I honored military members on Sunday, July 19 at Highland Meadows in Sylvania.

Each military member walked the 18 holes as a standard bearer with an LPGA group posting scores for the spectators to see. The military person in each group was introduced on the starting hole to the spectators and the LPGA players.

Those honored included Patrick Sottek, Curt Musshel, Daniel Sohnrey, Adam Glore, D. Scott Ondo and Tony Garver from the 180th Fighter Wing; Joseph Hockenberger, Sean Byrd, Devin Hollis and Derrick Card from the Army; Brett Kreigh and RJ Reynolds from the Coast Guard; Army Chaplain Robert Lewis and Paul Stutzenstein of the Ohio Air National Guard.

The US Navy also staffed a display tent near the main public entrance of the tournament on Military Day. All active and retired military members and one guest received free admission the week of the tournament.
