Several people were injured following a two-vehicle accident on New Year’s Day in Swancreek Township.
The Toledo post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that a silver Toyota Solara driven by Nancy Meiring, 83, of Swanton was eastbound on County Road EF at approximately 10:32 a.m. when it failed to yield the right of way and was struck by a maroon Chevrolet Malibu southbound on County Road 3. Meiring’s vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck a ditch.
She was transported by Life Flight to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Malibu, whose identity was not known, and its occupants were transported by ground ambulance to the University of Toledo Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
All vehicle occupants used safety belts, and alcohol is not a factor in the crash.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and the Swanton Fire Department.
The accident remains under investigation.
