Fulton County Commissioner Paul Barnaby and Delta Village Administrator Brad Peebles will be featured in the January/February issue of Our Ohio magazine. The article offers a peek at the NatureFresh Farms facility progress and explains why local farmers and city officials are excited about the positive addition to their community.
NatureFresh Farms, a Canadian company, started building its first state-of-the-art North American greenhouse facility in Delta in 2015. With plans to invest up to $200 million in northwest Ohio, add 300 jobs and expand to grow on approximately 180 acres over the next seven years, the facility is already producing on 45 acres and supplying its OhioRed tomato varieties to Kroger, Giant Eagle and other grocery store chains. The NatureFresh facility allows for year-round production with the potential to supply locally grown tomatoes to approximately 20 million people within a 5-hour distance to the facility.
“You’re impressed every time you go down (State) Route 109,” said commissioner Barnaby. “I’ve had a chance to go in and see the tomatoes. They’re the biggest stalks you’ve ever seen.”
