Wednesday, Oct. 19

Swanton Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. in the board building, 108 N. Main St. The public is welcome to attend.

Anime Club for grades 6-12, 4-5:30 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Watch three episodes of anime(s) chosen by the attendees and make armbands. Popcorn, food, and drinks will also be provided. Participants are welcome to come in cosplay, anime or otherwise. Teens who just completed these grades are invited. Free!

Political Cartooning, 6:30-8 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Local political cartoonist Don Lee will share his stories, tips, and skills during this. Attendees will also have a chance to try their hand at this unique art form. This free program is open to all; registration is requested.

Thursday, Oct. 20

Medicare assistance, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Medicare open enrollment runs from October 15 through December 7. This is the time period when changes to Medicare plans can be made. If you need help with these changes or have questions about insurance, bill paying, applications, or assistance programs, set up an appointment with Val Edwards from the Fulton County Senior Center. Cardmaking Classes, 6:30-8 p.m.. The ongoing series of cardmaking classes continues in October with some beautiful autumn cards. Children over the age of eight, accompanied by an adult, are welcome to attend. The supply fee is $5 for three cards. Register at the front desk, online, or by phone.

Lakeside Stroll, 10 a.m. Oak Openings Mallard Lake. Delight in the fall color and crisp morning air by starting your day off with a stroll around Mallard Lake. The pace will be leisurely and the trail around the lake is mostly crushed stone with plenty of benches nearby. Perfect for someone who wants to get outside and build up to a longer walk. Swanton Fine Art Exhibit and Sale, 10 a..m. to 5 p.m., Valleywood Golf Club banquet room. This free event features 85 artists from 20 communities and three states. The event continues Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

Monday, Oct. 24

Swanton Village Council will meet at the Swanton Municipal Building, 219 Chestnut St. at 7 p.m. The Finance and Water and Sewer Committees will meet prior to the regular meeting beginning at 6 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.

Tuesday, Oct. 25

Swanton Township Trustees will meet at Swanton Township Hall, 13410 Airport Highway at 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

Wednesday, Oct. 26

Spooky Soirée for grades 6-12, 4 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Show up anytime between 4 and 5:30 p.m. at the library and celebrate the scariest day of the year. There will be games, music, crafts, snacks, and, of course, plenty of candy! Come dressed in your best Halloween costume for a chance to win some spooky prizes. No registration is necessary; just show up and have fun!

Thursday, Oct. 27

Swancreek Water District Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the township hall, 5565 County Road D. The public is welcome to attend.

Flu Shot Clinic, 2-5:30 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Many types of insurance, as well as Medicaid and Medicare, are accepted. For more information, call the Fulton County Health Department at 419-337-0915.

Saturday, Oct. 29

Halloween Hoopla, downtown Swanton, 3-5 p.m. Bouncy houses, pedal carts, straw mazes, games, candy, dancing in the streets, cookie decorating and so much more.

Trick-or-Treating, 6-7:30 p.m., Swanton.

This Program Is Haunted for grades K-5, Swanton Public Library, 10:30 a.m. Come celebrate ghosts and other things that go bump in the night at the library with spooky stories, ghostly games, scary snacks, and a creepy craft. Weekly/Monthly Event

Swanton Garden Club will hold monthly meetings. They will meet the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Call Jan Heyman at 419-206-2047 or Elfrieda Jewell at 419-826-4129 prior to the meeting to find out the location.

Growing through Grief Bereavement Group will meet the fourth Tuesday of every month from 3:30-5 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 N. Main St., Swanton. Conducted by licensed bereavement counselors, the sessions are free and open to anyone in the community who is interested in attending. Pre-registration is required.
