Owens to host job fair

OhioMeansJobs.com, the state’s online career and employment center, is hosting a career fair from 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15, at Owens Community College.

Employers, career counselors and workforce professionals are invited to attend an informational session beginning at 9 a.m. Speakers will present information about regional workforce trends and how OhioMeansJobs.com can serve as a unique and free benefit for employers.

More than 35 employers from diverse fields – including manufacturing, education, retail, health care and more – will be on site to meet with job seekers in the afternoon. Job seekers also can attend resume writing and interviewing workshops and even receive a professionally produced headshot to use on their social media profiles.

“We invite all Toledo area job seekers to take advantage of this opportunity,” said Cynthia C. Dungey, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. “They can bring their resumes, network with potential employers and learn how to make their job searches more successful. Admission is free, and all are welcome.”

On any given day, OhioMeansJobs.com lists more than 150,000 job openings, with half paying a salary of more than $50,000 per year. It also has a resume builder and rater, a budget calculator, skill and interest assessments, online tutorials and information about in-demand jobs in Ohio. Users can access the site from their home, office, school, library, military base or any other internet-connected location or device.
