Swanton Township Trustees will meet at Swanton Township Hall, 13410 Airport Highway at 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

Wednesday, Sept. 14

Board of Library Teens will hold first meeting of the school year at 4:45 p.m. at Swanton Public Library.

Swanton Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. in the board office, 108 N. Main St. The public is welcome.

Thursday, Sept. 15

Adult book discussion led by Marty Kaback, 7 p.m., Swanton Public Library. This month’s topic is the romance “The Notebook” by Nicholas Sparks.

Cardmaking Classes, 6:30-8 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Samples of completed cards are on display at the library. Children over the age of eight, accompanied by an adult, are welcome to attend. The supply fee is $5 for 3 cards. Register at the front desk, online, or by phone.

Saturday, Sept. 17

Lucas County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet at the Monroe County Historical Museum, 126 South Monroe Street in Monroe, Michigan for a tour of their library containing archival and manuscript materials including maps, family papers, documents, photographs, and genealogy relating to Monroe County. Monday, Sept. 26

Swanton Village Council will meet at the Swanton Municipal Building, 219 Chestnut St. at 7 p.m. The Water and Sewer and Finance Committees will meet prior to the regular meeting beginning at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 28

Personal Safety Self-Defense Classes, 6:30-8 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Officer John Roof from the Wauseon Police Department will visit the library for a presentation on personal safety. He’ll cover topics such as self-defense and the law, strategies for keeping yourself safe, and how to avoid confrontation. This class is free and open to all. Weekly/Monthly Event

Swanton Garden Club will hold monthly meetings. They will meet the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Call Jan Heyman at 419-206-2047 or Elfrieda Jewell at 419-826-4129 prior to the meeting to find out the location.

Growing through Grief Bereavement Group will meet the fourth Tuesday of every month from 3:30-5 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 N. Main St., Swanton. Conducted by licensed bereavement counselors, the sessions are free and open to anyone in the community who is interested in attending. Pre-registration is required.
