Several injured in area crash

Several people with injured in a Saturday crash on State Route 295. The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the crash at Bancroft Street in Richfield Township at approximately 9:53 a.m.

A gray 2012 Honda Civic driven by Padam Acharya, 31, of Toledo, was westbound on Bancroft Street. A 2001 Ford F-150 driven by Wendi Danzeisen, age 47 of Sylvania was northbound on SR 295. According to the Highway Patrol, Acharya failed to yield the right of way, and was struck by Danzeisen. Danzeisen was hauling a horse trailer. A horse was taken from the scene with no visible injury.

Acharya was taken by ground ambulance to Toledo Hospital for serious injuries. His passenger, who was not wearing a safety belt, was taken by air ambulance to Toledo Hospital. Two other passengers were also taken to local hospitals for minor injuries.

Danzeisen and her passengers were taken by ground ambulance to Toledo Hospital as well. Alcohol does not seem to be a factor in the crash. The intersection was closed for approximately 2 hours due to the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, ProMedica Air, Sylvania Township Fire Department, Richfield Township Fire Department, Spencer Township Fire Department, Metamora- Amboy Township Fire Department, and Mobile Care Group.
