Wednesday, July 6

Zoo Moves for grades 3, 4, and 5, 10:30-11:30 a.m., Swanton Public Library. Join the Toledo Zoo to meet some of the real animals who live there! Children who just completed these grades are invited. Free. No registration required.

Thursday, July 7

Water Games for grades 6-12, 3 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Come to the library for an afternoon spent beating the heat. We’ll have a mini-pool party on the lawn outside the library, with free snacks, water war games, a mini-pool, and more. No registration required. Free.

Free Dinner for All, Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 Dodge St., Swanton. Serving in the church hall from 5-6:30 p.m. Menu includes smoked chicken, St. Louis style ribs, macaroni and cheese, tossed salad, rolls and butter, various desserts, coffee, punch. Log Cabin Tavern is hosting the July meal.

The Red Cross and You, 7-8 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Marianne Duvendack will present that program at the library. The Red Cross does much more than collect blood – come to this engaging program and learn about their various activities and services. Into the Woods 5K Series: Box Turtle Boogie, 8 a.m., Oak Openings Preserve. Run, walk or combine the two, in this noncompetitive 5K. Into the Woods 5K provides the perfect opportunity to experience your Metroparks in the early morning light. This just for fun event has no official timing or scoring, so go at your own pace. There is an unofficial clock at the finish line to check your time. Metroparks interpreters and outdoor experts will be onsite highlighting unique natural features. Children 5 and under are free. Music and Movement, 4:30 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Music and movement are tied together with literacy in this new family series on Monday afternoons. Sing, dance, play instruments, and read! Focus is on preschool and early grades, but the entire family is welcome. Free!

Yummy! with OSU Extension for grades K, 1, and 2, 10:30-11:15 a.m., Swanton Public Library. Join Melissa from OSU Extension for games and fun with food! Children who just completed these grades are invited. Free! No registration required.

Cookie Decorating for grades 6-12, 3-4:30 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Design your own cookies with various toppings. Free!

Handmade Cards, 6:30 p.m., Swanton Public Library. The series of Cardmaking Classes, led by Anna Geis, continues in July. The fee is $5 for 3 cards. Students will make a masculine birthday card, a congratulations card, and a patriotic card. Children 8 and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult. Registration is required. Weekly/Monthly Event

Swanton Garden Club will hold monthly meetings. They will meet the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Call Jan Heyman at 419-206-2047 or Elfrieda Jewell at 419-826-4129 prior to the meeting to find out the location.

Growing through Grief Bereavement Group will meet the fourth Tuesday of every month from 3:30-5 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 N. Main St., Swanton. Conducted by licensed bereavement counselors, the sessions are free and open to anyone in the community who is interested in attending. Pre-registration is required. Alzheimer’s Support Group, last Tuesday of each month, 3 p.m., 214 S. Munson Road, Swanton. Family members who are or will be caregivers are invited to a monthly forum. Come discuss your changing role and how to find resources to assist you. Call Chris Cremean for reservations at (419) 825-1145.

The Fulton County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society meets the second Tuesday of the month except July and August at 7 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 410 Taylor St., Delta. Speakers, programs, research tips. Public welcome.

OPERS Fulton County Chapter 29 meets the third Tuesday of each month at the Wauseon Senior Center.

Helping Other Parents Experiencing Grief (HOPE) is a support group that meets the third Monday of every month, except December, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fulton County Health Center meeting room. HOPE offers support for parents who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth or the death of infants, young children and teenagers due to illness or accident. The Quilt Bear Cafe Club is a monthly club that features a monthly “cup” of quilting. They meet the third Saturday of every month at The Quilt Bear Studio, 13115 Angola Road, Swanton, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and enjoy sewing time with friends, a light lunch, door prizes and more.
