Williams awarded scholarship

Emily Williams, a Swanton resident and Owens Community College student, is the recipient of one of five $1,000 scholarships awarded by Glass City Federal Credit Union, to area students who are attending a two or four year accredited post-secondary institution during the 2016-17 school year. Scholarship applicants were required to write and submit an essay, and the winning recipients were selected by a panel of community business representatives.

Williams is currently enrolled as an accounting technology major at Owens Community College. A Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society member, Williams is a former home-school student and graduate. She volunteers for the church-based “Heartworks” organization, which creates and provides blankets and quilts for area nursing homes and groups.
