The Swanton Corn Festival, which will be taking place Saturday, Aug. 22, will not only offer many of the same things that you look forward to, but will also have a few changes this year. Along with a few entertainment additions will come some changes in the beer tent.
New this year will be the addition of a Youth Corn Hole tournament that will take place on the lower ball field after the car show moves out. This tournament will be open to anyone 20 years of age or younger. Please contact Alan Robasser at email@example.com if interested.
Also new this year is the Corn Art Booth that will host local artist’s creations depicting corn or works made from corn. Although not new, Swanton’s Got Talent will be returning to this year’s Corn Festival. If you are interested in entering either one of these events, please go to SwantonCornFest.com and find the entry form on the Festival website.
Changes in the beer tent will be happening to both cater to the wants and needs of those in attendance and to also help facilitate the basic operation of the tent. The beer tent will be open at noon with a $5 admission fee. You will receive a wristband that will be good for the entire day, including admission to the night entertainment. Instead of draft beer, they will be offering canned beer and in place of wine and margaritas, they will be offering MixxTail Long Islands and Hurricanes.
The Harley Packer Band will be playing in the beer tent from 8 p.m. to midnight instead of 7 to 11 p.m. Entertainment on both Stage 1 and Stage 2 will continue to 8 p.m. and they are asking all merchants and vendors to remain until 8 p.m. as well.
These time changes were made in order to cater to the community’s wishes for a longer festival, allowing families to come up to the festival during the dinner hour and still have an enjoyable time.
