Project BudBurst, 1 p.m., Secor Metropark. Participate in Citizen Science through Project BudBurst! Join in on phenology—the science of timing— with this naturalist-led walk. Learn about the biological timing of plants through observation and contribute to a national database on phenology. No registration required.

Friday, June 10

Parents Night Out: Frog Frenzy, 5:30 p.m., Oak Openings Preserve. Need a night out? Drop your children ages 4-10 off for a two hour environmental education program. Your child will become a nature sleuth and crack the mysteries of the night at the Metroparks. Please dress appropriately to go outside. Snacks will be provided. Register at metroparkstoledo.com.

In the Shape of An Insect, 4 p.m., Secor Metropark. After a long school year, join art educator, Angela Metcalf, to let loose and get creative! Rectangles, squares, circles, and star all made from one of nature’s biggest creations to help us create one of its smallest. Come explore park to catch insects to observe, inspire, sketch and release. Then take those sketches and apply them to the creation of your very own shapely insect sculpture. Swanton Village Council will meet at the Swanton Municipal Building, 219 Chestnut St. at 7 p.m. The Water and Sewer and Finance Committees will meet prior to the meeting, beginning at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

Try-It: Archery, Wiregrass Lake, 6:30 p.m. A one-hour programs that give you the very basics of archery. Give it a try to see if you want to sign up for a class! Ages 8 and older. Paddleboarding program also offered. Registration and more information at metroparkstoledo.com.

Medicare, Society Security and Retirement Assistance, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Swanton Public Library. Fulton County residents ages 60 and older can get help with understanding Medicare, bills, applications and more. Valerie Edwards, Information and Referral Specialist at the Fulton County Senior Center, will be at the Swanton Public Library. If you have questions or need help finding answers, call the Senior Center at 419-337-9299 to schedule an appointment for this free service.

Full Moon Walk, 9 p.m., Oak Openings Preserve. Come walk in the crisp cool night air and discover the park after dark. Take in the landscape as we listen for signs of native residents. Attendees will use the light of the moon to guide them on the walk. Be sure to be dressed for a wonderful night walk. Register at metroparkstoledo.com.

Weekly/Monthly Event

Swanton Garden Club will hold monthly meetings. They will meet the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Call Jan Heyman at 419-206-2047 or Elfrieda Jewell at 419-826-4129 prior to the meeting to find out the location.

Growing through Grief Bereavement Group will meet the fourth Tuesday of every month from 3:30-5 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 N. Main St., Swanton. Conducted by licensed bereavement counselors, the sessions are free and open to anyone in the community who is interested in attending. Pre-registration is required. Alzheimer’s Support Group, last Tuesday of each month, 3 p.m., 214 S. Munson Road, Swanton. Family members who are or will be caregivers are invited to a monthly forum. Come discuss your changing role and how to find resources to assist you. Call Chris Cremean for reservations at (419) 825-1145.

The Fulton County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society meets the second Tuesday of the month except July and August at 7 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 410 Taylor St., Delta. Speakers, programs, research tips. Public welcome.

OPERS Fulton County Chapter 29 meets the third Tuesday of each month at the Wauseon Senior Center.

Helping Other Parents Experiencing Grief (HOPE) is a support group that meets the third Monday of every month, except December, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fulton County Health Center meeting room. HOPE offers support for parents who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth or the death of infants, young children and teenagers due to illness or accident. The Quilt Bear Cafe Club is a monthly club that features a monthly “cup” of quilting. They meet the third Saturday of every month at The Quilt Bear Studio, 13115 Angola Road, Swanton, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and enjoy sewing time with friends, a light lunch, door prizes and more.
