Incumbent Jeff Rupp defeated Brad Peebles in the Fulton County Commissioner Republican primary and county voters approved a number of issues on Tuesday.
One issue that was not approved was the Delta question on medical marijuana. Following an uproar from some Delta residents, Council members decided to place the question of allowing medical marijuana businesses before voters.
They voted not to allow the cultivation, processing and wholesaling, retailing and dispensing of medical marijuana by a margin of 343-207, according to unofficial results.
Also in Delta, voters approved a 5-year, 5-mill levy renewal for police department expenses by a margin of 360-187.
Elsewhere, Archbold voters approved an income tax increase by a vote of 501-348. The 0.3% increase will bring the village income tax to 1.8% and help pay for police, fire and EMS.
Archbold area voters also approved a 5-year, 1.2-mill replacement levy for the Archbold Community Library. It was approved 788-366.
Clinton Township voters renewed a five-year 0.5-mill levy for maintenance and operating expenses of Wauseon Union Cemetery by a vote of 1,886-758.
Also, Dover Township voters approved the sale of wine and mixed beverages and the Sunday sale of wine and mixed beverages at the carry out at 10085 State Route 108.
The only countywide issue was a renewal levy sought by the Fulton County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The 5-year 2.6-mill levy for programs, services, and facilities was easily approved by a margin of 6,257-2,810.
In the commissioner race, Rupp defeated Peebles, a former commissioner, by a vote of 4,413-2,083. Rupp, a Wauseon area resident, won all but the Amboy/Metamora and Royalton/Lyons precincts over Peebles, a Lyons resident.
“I am honored and humbled for the confidence given in me by the voters to continue to serve the citizens of Fulton County,” said Rupp.
There were no Democratic candidates for the commissioner spot, or any other Fulton County race. Scott Haselman ran unopposed in the Republic primary for common pleas judge and Brett Kolb ran unopposed in the Republican primary for county auditor.
Lucas County
A Mental Health & Recovery Services Board levy was approved by Lucas County voters. The 1-mill renewal won by a margin of 29,379-13,606.
Berkey voters approved a 3-mill 911 levy by a vote of 53-23.
Lisa Sobecki ousted incumbent Gary L. Byers in the Demoractic primary for county commissioner. Sobecki received 11,184 votes, compared to 6,157 for Byers and 1,684 for Michael B. Hood.
